Day 2 of Austin Fashion Week was on a whole new level. I was completely star struck seeing contestants/winners of Project Runway (one of my favorite shows of all time). Wanting to say hi-but too excited to speak, I hid behind my camera during the entire show. Although I was too afraid to meet the Project Runway alum (must work on my people skills), I did get many shots of their new lines. Here are my favorites from Austin Fashion Week Day 2 of Stars.
Daniel Esquivel is a popular favorite of Project Runway and appeared on Season 11 and Project Runway All-Stars. He is widely known for his aesthetic of elegance and the classic woman. I loved how refined and beautiful all of Daniel’s pieces were. His clothes have the aura of 1950’s glamour revamped for today with a modern edge.
Anthony Ryan Auld
Anthony Ryan Auld appeared on Season 9 of Project Runway and claimed a victory on Season 2 of Project Runway All Stars. Auld’s line felt the most wearable of the night. His pieces have a great desert and Aztec vibe making his line feel laid back yet refined and vibrant.
Michelle is one of my Project Runway favorites of all time and she was the Season 11 winner. Having very high expectations of her work I was surprised. The dark and strong aesthetic I had seen on TV was transformed with bright colors and gleefulness on her runway for Spring/Summer. However, the strong and bold shapes which have become her trademark are still very much present in her line.
Amanda has had a steady presence on Project Runway as a contestant on Season 11 and Season 13. Her boho and hippie inspired clothes thrive with elegance. Valentine’s use of graphic shapes and jewelry also help to unify and elevate her line.
Gunnar Deatherage’s line impressed me the most out of Day 2 on the runway. His clothes were incredibly innovative and simply stunning. The nature music playing in the background helped to create a scene of safari expedition. The tones of green and black layered with amazing details and craftsmanship make you want to stare into each outfit longer. What a wonderful collection by Season 9 and 10 along with All Stars Season 4 alum, Gunnar Deatherage.
I so badly wanted Korto to win her seasons on Project Runway and Project Runway All Stars. Her talent in undeniable. Korto’s clothes has the air of sophistication and affluence. The way each look shimmers and glides on the runway made it all feel like a dream. Korto’s line was my ultimate favorite of the night!
Those were my favorite designers of Austin Fashion Week Day 2 for the Stars. There was so much talent and diversity on the runway. It was definitely a feast for the eyes. If you missed my first post, make sure to check out my coverage of Day 1 as well!
