Top 3 Favorite Smoothie Recipes

Step into Spring with these satisfying smoothie recipes. For a while now, I have started to replace my carb-heavy breakfasts from bagels, waffles, and pancakes drenched in syrup to a nutritious yet delicious smoothie. The result has been a greater boost of energy and less of a belly pooch throughout my day. It’s best to eat a smoothie in the morning so your body can burn off the sugar throughout the day (don’t worry, natural sugar is much better for you than refined) but they can also replace your lunch. Here are my three favorite go-to smoothies.

Green is Good Smoothie

kale smoothie

For all you kale lovers out there and for those who steer away from green this smoothie is for you. Kale on it’s own can taste quite bitter which is why I used to stay away from smoothies with kale as an ingredient. However, this recipe tastes more like a refreshing vanilla smoothie than a kale one. What’s even better than getting rid of that bitter taste? You still consume your needed green for the day!

  • Kale-washed and chopped
  • 1 banana (go for organic)
  • Half a cup of yogurt (basically half of a Yoplait Light, or Greek Yogurt)
  • Half an apple (Fuji or Gala tastes best)
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup of low fat Milk (for desired thickness/consistency)

Berry Happy Smoothie

Blueberries are one of the best super foods out there. They are beneficial to your brain, anti-aging, skin, digestion, and even help prevent cancer. Therefore, a berry smoothie is sure to make your body…berry happy (ok, no more puns I promise)!

  • 3/4 to 1 cup of blueberries
  • 5-7 blackberries (what makes the tart flavor)
  • 1 organic banana
  • 1/2 cup of yogurt
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup of Milk

The Classic

strawberry banana smoothie

Everyone loves a strawberry banana smoothie. However, people will opt out of making them and instead buy an overpriced version at a smoothie shop. What most people don’t know is how easy it is to make this smoothie classic at home using ingredient you probably already have. All you need is…

  • 7-10 strawberries (depending on blender size)
  • 1 organic banana
  • 1/2 cup of yogurt
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup of orange juice

Booster Ingredients-

You can add these miracle ingredients to any smoothie for a boost of energy, fullness, and nutritional value.

  • 1 tea spoon of Chia Seeds
  • 1 tea spoon of Flax Seeds

The ingredients to each of these smoothie recipes is relative to the size of your blender. Feel free to experiment and see what your taste buds prefer. I find that starting each day with something healthy gives me added inspiration to stay healthy throughout my day. Let me know which smoothie recipe is your favorite!
